STRAMA Ski and Snowboard School in Zakopane is proud to announce a partnership with Oskar Kwiatkowski – world champion in alpine snowboarding and one of Poland’s finest winter athletes.
Racing for Poland and born in Biały Dunajec, he wrote himself into the history books as the first Pole to win a World Cup event in alpine snowboarding, and he finished the 2022/2023 season third overall in the parallel giant slalom standings. He is also the 2019 Universiade winner and the 2023 World Champion in Georgia, and in March this year he will defend that title in St. Moritz.
Known to everyone as „Gumiś”, he is a multiple Polish championship medallist and an Olympian from Beijing, where he finished seventh; he will be fighting for a medal at next year’s Games in Cortina d’Ampezzo. As part of the partnership with STRAMA School, Oskar has become the ambassador of the only snowboard training programme for children in Poland that culminates in earning the 6 Stramuś Bear Badges. What is more, he has taken patronage over the Podhale Snowboard Group, which made its debut below Nosal at the beginning of January.
„Working with STRAMA School is a great joy for me and a chance to share my passion with the younger generation. I believe that sport teaches not only technique, but also perseverance and self-belief. If I manage to inspire young people to take up snowboarding, that will be my greatest success” – says Oskar Kwiatkowski.
Working with such an exceptional athlete is a great distinction for our school. Oskar’s presence, recognised and respected around the world, not only raises the profile of what we do but also fits perfectly with the idea of promoting sport for everyone among children. As part of our joint work Oskar will take part in selected sessions and coach young snowboarders in person, inspiring them with his passion and his experience.
„Together we came to the conclusion that this snowboarding idea deserved our support. It is a great honour for us that Oskar Kwiatkowski has become the ambassador of our school. We want to give the children a role model, so they can see that this kind of activity can lead all the way to a world title” – says Katarzyna Strama Chevallier.
With such an exceptional ambassador, we are sure that the future of snowboarding in Poland will be brighter still!
